The Beatles’ Story on Capitol Records, Part Two: The Albums

by Bruce Spizer

The Beatles’ Story on Capitol Records, The second part of Bruce Spizer’s epic Capitol project covers the albums Meet The Beatles! through Magical Mystery Tour.

Many books note that the Beatles albums on Capitol are different than those issued by Parlophone in England. The party line is that Capitol butchered the Beatles. Here is the real story behind the Capitol albums, with explanations of why Capitol reconfigured the LPs.

For each album, the book provides session and chart information and pictures of the front and back covers, all label variations, trade advertisements, promotional posters and displays. The book offers the most comprehensive coverage ever compiled on the Yesterday And Today album, with newly discovered information on the trunk and butcher covers and highlights from 1966 news articles. It completely rewrites the history of the Beatles most controversial album cover.

The book also covers compilation albums, the Hollyridge Strings LPs and albums issued by Capitol of Canada and Discos Capitol de Mexico. Other chapters feature the inner sleeves, pressing plants and details regarding the stereo, duophonic and mono mixes used by Capitol.

Like the other works in the series, the book is hard cover, printed on heavy stock glossy paper and contains hundreds of color images throughout. Another indispensable must-have.

Measures 9" x 12" (24cm x 30cm).
