Abbey Road (48 pages, one picture. Does not include Something or Octopus’s Garden. The arrangements are the Campbell, Connelly (English) versions while Here Comes the Sun is the Hansen version). |
1970s | Shinko Music Publishing |
Abbey Road - The Beatles Band Score (88 pages, including 2 pages with a black and white picture each and a 1 page catalog. Well done except for the usual repeated verses or chorus bass line variations not transcribed, most notably on Something, Maxwell's Silver Hammer and She Came In Through The Bathroom Window (you have to look in Hansen's Abbey Road: Matching Music Book for Easy Guitar / Guitar Combos for that. Two bars (bars 30 and 31) of the bassline during the guitar jam The End have been accidentally inverted. This error remains in the Hal Leonard/Music Sales book The Beatles Complete Score). |

A Hard Day's Night - The Beatles Band Score (72 pages, including 3 pages with a black and white picture each and 4 page catalog). |

The Beatles ("white album") - The Beatles Band Score (152 pages, including 2 pages with a black and white picture each and a 1 page catalog. Generally well done. We tend to dispute the main picked guitar passages on Dear Prudence. But then again, the multiple overdubbing of guitars on the recording can make it hard to distinguishing the exact part. The part in itself has an awkard fingering. The way it is transcribed here is just about impossible (at least for us) to play. Hal Leonard has a different variation we believe is correct, and while still awkard, is playable. Happiness is a Warm Gun is missing the keyboard parts (which is mixed down low on the recording); on Don't Pass Me Buy the third verse fiddle part is missing; on Cry Baby Cry the "Can you take me back where I came from" segment is not transcribed - it was available on Cherry Lane's/Delilah's The Compleat Beatles; Revolution 9 is not transcribed. Generally that's not a big deal but it's transcribed in The Beatles Complete Scores, although mostly instrumentally; and on Good Night the last verse isn't transcribed properly). |

Beatles Collection Vol. 1 - The Beatles Band Score (104 pages, including 2 pages with a black and white picture each and a 1 page catalog. The cover states: "This band score features 19 songs by The Beatles released in the years 1963-1966" - actually these were songs that had not appeared on the regular studio albums. The usual missing bassline variations on Day Tripper, Paperback Writer, Rain and She's a Woman. The repeated lead guitar riffs at the end of This Boy are missing too). |
1988 | Shinko Music Publishing |
Beatles Collection Vol. 2 - The Beatles Band Score (80 pages, including 3 pages with a black and white picture each and a 5 page catalog. As with Vol. 1, the cover states "...19 songs by The Beatles released in the years 1967-1970", and these songs as well are tracks not on The Beatles regular studio albums. The piano parts for Hey Jude and particularily Lady Madonna need to be reworked. The "Sorrow" portion of It's All Too Much (you know, the long, blonde hair and eyes of blue bit) is not transcribed. Revolution is arranged in the key of B Flat Major. The song plays closer to the key of B Major. This is a problem that often plagues sheet music. In this series in the Sgt. Pepper book, Within You, Without You, When I'm 64, and Lovely Rita are transcribed in C Major, C Major and E Flat Major, respectively. The recording plays back in D Flat Major, D Flat Major and E major respectively (We are aware of the verispace techniques used by the Beatles during some of those songs). And of course there are always the bassline variations not transcribed in All Together Now and You Know My Name). |

Beatles For Sale - The Beatles Band Score (80 pages, including 3 pages with a black and white picture each and 5 page catalog. The only omission in these transcriptions is that the piano part for the middle eight of "No Reply" was omitted. (but they put in the handclaps). The piano is less audible in mono than in stereo). |

Help - The Beatles Band Score (72 pages, including 2 pages with one black and white photo each, 1 page catalog). |

Let It Be - The Beatles Band Score (72 pages, including 2 pages with one black and white picture each and a 3 page catalog. Some of George Harrison's guitar variation parts are missing in Dig a Pony. The Let It Be version transcribed is the album version although the background vocals are missing here. Some of the McCartney's piano fills versions are not included. The album version of Get Back is transcribed here too). |

Magical Mystery Tour - The Beatles Band Score (72 pages, including 3 pages with one black and white picture each and a 3 page catalog). This is a very well done book with the occassional missing second or third verse bassline variation. On a side note - this has nothing to do with this songbook: If you listen to the MPI/Apple video version of Your Mother Should Know, you will notice that it has a different bassline than the one on the album. It's surprising that no one has noticed this). |

1988 | Shinko Music Publishing |
Revolver - The Beatles Band Score (80 pages, including 3 pages with a black and white picture each and a 3 page catalog. The arrangement for the third verse of Eleanor Rigby needs be properly transcribed. Most of the special effects for Tomorrow Never Knows are missing. However, it was transcribed in Hal Leonard's Revolver: Guitar Record Versions songbook). |

Rubber Soul - The Beatles Band Score (80 pages, including 3 pages with one black and white photo each, 3 page catalog). |
1988 | Shinko Music Publishing |
Sgt. Pepper's - The Beatles Band Score (104 pages, including 3 pages with a black and white picture each and a 3 page catalog. Generally on this album McCartney somewhat vary his basslines from verse to verse. The following songs did not always reflect these variations: With a Little Help from My Friends, Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds and Lovely Rita. The George Martin orchestrations (Mike Leander in She's Leaving Home) are generally transcribed with the exception on of the 'build up' on A Day in the Life (An attempt was made on some of Hal Leonard's books). |
